Book Launch Wrap Up
Excerpt from my Book Launch speech:
After almost 20 years of answering the same questions as a midwife and now a maternal child health nurse and witnessing similar struggles from a diverse range of people, I realized that as new parents there are some things we all have in common.

My own personal experiences of parenthood mirrored that of many other new mothers and I remember the kind of questions we had when we started a family. I remember thinking how great it would be if there was a book containing the answers to these common questions.
Now, there were and are books regarding infancy and early childhood, being the avid reader that I am, I read a lot of them and told Peter, my husband, exactly what he was doing wrong. But even then, some were contradictory or not relevant or outdated and rigid and then after completing the midwifery study and moving onto maternal and child health nursing, there was a lack of information grounded in best practice with an evidence-based approach.
So, 18 months ago I had a realization that through my years as a midwife and maternal and child health nurse, I have fostered wonderful professional relationships and have a wealth of shared knowledge and experiences to draw from. Wonderful Doctors, Obstetricians, Nurses, Midwives, friends and family that have added to the accumulation of, what I know is relevant knowledge.
So I decided to write my own book.
This book has been 18 months in the making and incorporates chapters and addresses key questions new parents have.
- It presents current standards and evidence based knowledge.
- It is broken up so parents can access the information they need quickly without having read the whole book.
- It offers some anecdotal evidence and shows the clear connection from theory to practice.
- It contains access information to the website and other resources.
- And it has this bunting on the cover that I really like.
The launch isn’t just about selling the book, it’s the first major step in a promotional drive. My main goal is to inform as many people as I can of this resource so please share and ask other to share the website and Facebook page. My goal is to generate traffic so people know it’s there if they need it.
You can purchase a copy of my book at all good book stores, including online as well as belindajoyce.com
