Ep 16 | Elevate Your Pregnancy Style with These Fashion Tips
In this episode I am discussing how to elevate your style during pregnancy with Sonya Choi La Rosa from Your Styled Collective. She shares her tips, starting with being gentle on yourself, this is an amazing experience and it’s going to feel good but sometimes it’s going to feel more challenging too. Your favourite and most comfortable clothes won’t fit as your baby grows.
Before you’ve announced your pregnancy: Elastic waists, zippers and buttons can be extended using some elastic tricks. To get the look of a tailored pant there are some great waist bands with hidden elastic in the back only.
Go up a size or look to stretchy fabrics, these are much better now, and the current oversized trend is also helpful. Beautiful button-down shirts, lovely cuffs, and collars, look sharp and by using tucks in the shirt it can hide your small bump for some time.

Once you have announced the pregnancy, everyone knows you’re pregnant, there is no reason to hide it any longer and you need comfort as well as looking good. It may be time to look to maternity wear, it has really improved enormously in the last few years.
If you like fitted, it can look beautiful with your pregnancy silhouette. Consider layering with a longline cardigan. Layers will be helpful int eh coming months.
Focus on accessories, these create interest while your clothing is more simple than usual and can up level an outfit.
Don’t be afraid of incorporating colour, try tonal colours. These can make you feel so much brighter and mix and match with your plainer black core pieces.
Even a large, coloured handbag can be a strategic statement piece.
Shoes are another opportunity; your feet may be a little swollen, especially towards the end of the pregnancy so structured flats may be a good choice. Perhaps an investment in some good quality flats to also use after the birth and for returning to work down the track would be a good idea.
